Who is Hunter Schafer’s model lookalike, Alex Consani? Meet the once youngest trans model and TikTok star who just made her Oscars red carpet debut – and is compared to the Euphoria star
Before her rise to TikTok fame in 2020, Consani was already on her way to becoming a familiar face, only in a different scene. Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area and making a big-city leap to New York, the model wasn’t just any high schooler – she was taking the fashion world by storm as one of the youngest transgender models to watch.
So what makes her such a stand-out star in the fashion universe? Here’s what we know about her.
Alex Consani’s modelling career started with a Facebook ad
Consani’s journey into the spotlight began early. At just 12 years old, in 2015, she responded to a Facebook ad seeking trans models, kick-starting her modelling career. By 2019, she had become an IMG Models signee.
Her TikTok rise to fame
The internet has since been fascinated with their physical resemblance, evident in Consani’s TikTok comments filled with comparisons to Schafer.
She’s an advocate for LGBTQ+ representation
When Consani entered the scene in 2015, she shattered barriers as the world’s youngest transgender model at the time. Embracing her true identity from an early age, she adopted the name Alex at eight and underwent hormone replacement therapy during puberty.
As a pioneering transgender model, she’s using her platform to redefine beauty norms and promote inclusivity. “Especially as a young trans girl, I always saw the lack of representation,” she shared with Vogue. “I wanted to fill the void and show other trans and nonbinary people that it was beautiful to be trans – not something to be ashamed of.”
What has Alex Consani been up to in 2024?
- Consani was the cover girl for Jean Paul Gaultier’s collaboration with KNWLS, has walked for Alexander McQueen, Versace and Burberry, and was everywhere during AW24 fashion weeks in Europe
- She started modelling at the age of 12 after seeing a Facebook ad and has since been signed to IMG – now, she advocates for more LGBT rep and says ‘it’s beautiful to be trans’
