Two women have been sent to hospital after an out-of-control cash delivery van mounted a pavement near a Hong Kong railway station and knocked them down.

Police said the crash took place outside an exit of Tsuen Wan West MTR station on Tai Ho Road in Tsuen Wan at 1.47pm on Friday.

“Initial investigation showed the vehicle crashed into railings, mounted a pavement and hit two women,” a police spokesman said.

The spokesman said one woman, 29, was trapped underneath the vehicle before she was rescued by emergency personnel. She suffered minor injuries and was conscious when transported to Princess Margaret Hospital.

The other victim sustained an injury to her head and was also rushed to the same hospital.

Officers from the New Territories South traffic unit are investigating the cause of the accident.
