Letters | Who will speak for the thousands in Hong Kong now deprived of a Legco representative?
Why?
What utter nonsense. It is not the role of officials to make such decisions. It is their job to find solutions.
In other countries, such a by-election would be completed within a few weeks of being called. The government, elected and unelected, are servants of the people. Many of these people are now to be left with no representative to make their case.
The reliably antagonistic Regina Ip says there have been too many elections and we are tired of them. Who is she speaking for here? Herself?
It is such arrogance that created the problems in our city.
Our government has so much to learn about service, honour and respect for its citizens. No one has accepted any responsibility for this debacle. There has been no resignation.
Record number of Hongkongers at district council polls
I, with trepidation, suggest that Ms Ip take on the unpaid and unelected role of representative for all of us who are disenfranchised for another nine months. Will you continue to speak for me, Ms Ip?
