They hang a giant portrait of the guy in Beijing, put the guy's picture on the country's banknotes, and censor any criticism of him and his policies online or on the media. And yet they're putting people into jail for trying to commemorate his birthday?
.
I'm confused.

China progresses by consensus. 95% of Chinese support current government policies and Maoism is not on the menu right now. The country will be busy until 2049 implementing socialism with Chinese characteristics. Maybe after that they'll revisit Mao's radical interpretation of Confucius' datong society.

"founder of modern China, Mao Zedong"
I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry. I hope it was simply an oversight on the part of the writer who translated the official press release? Please be more careful in the future.

Great job China, I'm excited to see that you have changed to socialist capital.

CCP should just take the picture of Mao down, if they don't like the guy. Heck, just white wash the history books, like Tiananmen Square Massacre 89, as if it never happened.

Is Chinese leadership trying to move towards being a modern political anti communist society?
Interesting
